About Me

Here’s the boring stuff:

From 1983 until mid-2001 my career spanned from being an Installation engineer to a Technical Support Manager. I was the companies IBM specialist responsible for commissioning, installing, configuring, integrating and providing third line technical support for the companies IBM RS/6000 platforms. The systems were shipped with the AIX v4.3.3 operating system and Informix SQL RDMS. Specialised application software was then installed and configured. HACMP (High availability cluster multi-processor) was utilised in the majority of cases.
During these years I also gained experience with the SCO, Uniplus+, Motorola, Ultrix 4.3 and Interactive UNIX OS systems.
Most of my career with this particular company (~70%) was spent working overseas.

From 2001 until I retired at the end of October 2013, I moved into a job that was local to my abode, as an I.T. Manager.
Apart from the boring work on the Windows based ‘toys’, I utilised my years of UNIX experience and turned towards Linux. Developing and building several Linux servers, which covered the company requirements of E-mail, Security, Web server’s blah, blah blah.

Now retired, I miss none of the daily chores which I mostly enjoyed at the time. I carry on managing my youngest son’s blog server, which BTW hosts https://www.backtothemovies.com and if you just love theme parks, checkout this site: https://www.lifthillsandthrills.com

Enjoy!
